WEAKNESSES: ... he's kind of a giant mass of epic failure. He can't really fight. He thinks that his buddhist chants are necessary to his attacks when they aren't at all. Uh. ... Really, 'epic fail' is the biggest weakness. If he tries to do anything, odds are he will roll a natural one. He has no real attacks outside of Hamaon, though, so if an enemy has a light resistance, he's boned. And he doesn't use his Prayer Paper on human opponents, only Shadows.
STRENGTHS: He takes out enemies fast, when he can, because he's basically spamming Hamaon. And on occasion, his normal epic failures can turn into a Rule of Cool moment, leading to normally-impossible feats. He is also very, very skilled at running away.
WEAPON OF CHOICE: "Prayer Paper". Those paper tags that are used to exorcise demons. These ones cast Hamaon.

PERSONALITY: Very spiritual. Very religious. Or so he seems at first glance. Start talking to him and he's actually a wild kid prone to shouting and flailing when he's utterly failing, or generally kind of retarded. While booksmart, known to obsessively study anything that captures his interests, his common sense is nil. He's also kind of arrogant and hates to be thought of as just a kid... which, due to his short size, is rather often.
When he's not having his ego constantly pounded on (Which happens often! Hino-enabled!), he's generally cheerful and optimistic. He's also fairly witty, at least when it comes to repartee, and he's got a habit of constantly snarking at people he doesn't like.
Overall, he's bright, cheerful, loud, and has an ego the size of an... extremely fragile mountain.
BACKGROUND: He was born in Iwatodai, to the son of the owner of the Naganaki shrine (in other words, the owner's grandson). He grew up, learning all about buddhism, to take over the shrine one day himself. Things... didn't work out so great. He was lazy, he didn't care, he was rambunctious, and generally a pain in the ass. He was unable to take things seriously, but he did learn the teachings all the same.
Then one day, he entered the Dark Hour, and saw Shadows. ... well, he's kind of retarded, and thought that the shadows must be ayakashi and youkai, and the Dark Hour must be the Hyakki Yakou. Knowing the belief that if you meet one of the youkai in it, you die, he started running away. The next night, the same thing happened. The third night, he was prepared, and attempted to exorcise them... and failed.
He started studying to get good at exorcisms so he could survive this Hyakki Yakou. Unfortunately, then, his grandpa and dog got eaten by the demons... as far as he knew, anyway. In reality, his grandpa died, but Koromaru was taken in by SEES. Youmei redoubled his studies and eventually became able to produce Prayer Paper, and actually exorcise the youkai... or so he thought, anyway.
Since then, he's just been running around Iwatodai. He's never yet ran into anyone else during the Dark Hour, so he doesn't know anything about it. He is still convinced it's the Hyakki Yakou and the Shadows are Youkai. (... I swear he's not as stupid as this makes him out to be.)
